How to safely move computer equipment

Moving home or office can be both frustrating and inconvenient. All you really want to do is get on with your daily tasks without also having to think about the logistics of moving your possessions. What’s more, you don’t want to have to think about replacing items that get lost or damaged whilst moving either, especially when it comes to expensive items like computer equipment.

In today’s digital age, each household has at least one piece of computer equipment, whether it’s a PC or a laptop and offices have many more including printers and external hard drives too. At Easycrate we know how important your computer equipment is to both you and your business and with that in mind we’ve put together some handy tips for how to move your computer equipment safely.

First of all, let’s look at how to wrap your computer equipment ready for the big move. As most computer equipment is fragile, it’s important to protect it. This can be as simple as wrapping your computer in anti-static bubble wrap to help absorb any shocks that may occur during your home or office move. Although this method is OK for hard drives and PC towers, it’s not ideal when moving computer monitors. At Easycrate we have special Computer Screen Covers available which offer your monitor protection from scratches and dust.

Once you’ve successfully wrapped your computer equipment, you need to think about how you will be transporting it. If your office move is simply a case of moving from one room to another on the same premises, it might be best to hire our Secure Roll Cage. This cage contains shelves and will ensure that your computer equipment is protected whilst you simply wheel it to its new location.

However if your move is further away to a new office or home, you can hire our plastic crates. The aptly named Computer Lidded Crate is large enough to hold your PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse so it not only protects everything but also keeps it all together for convenience. This lidded crate is also ideal for moving your printer too – although depending on size, two crates maybe required.

We hope that this guide has been useful but if you have any questions or want to know more about our crate hire service, just contact us.
